This is regarding “Test scores surge for minorities; But whites still far ahead in state” (Page 1, Aug. 1). I noticed your reporters described correctly “African-Americans” and “Hispanic-Americans” instead of “blacks” and “browns,” but Euro-American students were described as “white.”

I would hope in this new century we could describe all people as they are, no longer making it a color issue. This would allow us to concentrate on the big picture, which is a better education for all Americans.
