Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

My brother, a fan of minor-league baseball, was recently in town, so we attended three games in different minor league parks in one weekend.

Sights seen:

– Players from both the home and visiting teams helping stadium staff toss promotional items into the stands.

– A $50 bonus offered by a local paper to the team’s pitcher of the week, an amount that might actually matter to a minor-league player.

– Free parking.

– Working-class families who could afford to attend the game without stretching the week’s paycheck.

– Players who were playing for the love of the game and who understood how lucky they were to be making even a few dollars playing baseball.

After seeing these sights, we both decided that if the major-league spoiled brats want to strike, let them. There is plenty of other baseball to be found. Fans, get out and support a minor league team. In addition to the above reasons, it’s bound to be better than what we’ve seen from the Cubs and Sox.
