I loved Bob Sirott’s story on Pat Hughes and Ron Santo and the comments on the announcers of the past. I especially remember hurrying home from school in the ’70s to listen to Jack Brickhouse on TV.
I’m glad Steve Stone is coming back next year. But I remember when he started in 1983, I disliked him as much as I see the letters in the Tribune blasting Chip Caray, Joe Carter and Dave Otto now. I wonder if in 15 years or so, somebody who dislikes Chip Caray now will change his mind about him the way I changed my mind about Stone.
