Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I was at school when I first learned of the tragedy on Sept. 11. After I learned that terrorists had hijacked planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, I couldn’t believe it. Our principal had made sure our teachers didn’t talk about the tragedy to us, so until I got home, I didn’t understand what had happened.

I walked in the door and saw the news playing the tape over and over. The first thing I thought about was my aunt at the Chicago Board of Trade and if she was safe. Then, I thought that it couldn’t have happened, not in America.

I know that no patriotic American saw that coming.
