I was driving home the day terrorists shook up our world, the day many of us were moved to tears.

On a street corner in Elmhurst, kids held up their homemade signs and urged passing motorists to “Beep if you love America.”

A little girl waving big white pompoms was cheering loudly:

“God bless America!”

Our neighborhood children were inspiring hope.

Their public display on that shattering day served their community and country.

They were a sight to behold.
