Robert D. Ross, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at his residence in Shorewood, following a lingering illness, age 56, survived by his three children, Michelle (Christopher) Baker, Jeff Ross and Jennifer Ross; one granddaughter, Brittany Ross; his friend and ex-wife, Marna Ross; two sisters, Olivia (Robert) Friend and Lida Ross; one brother, Harry Ross; numerous nieces, nephews and friend also survive. Preceded in death by his mother, Mildred E., nee Johnson, Ross; and one brother, Raymon R. Ross. Born in Chicago and a resident of Shorewood for the past 30 years. Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country from 1965 to 1971 as a Green Beret in Special Forces, in Vietnam and other areas in the Eastern Pacific. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and numerous other awards. He was the owner and president of R.D. Ross and Associates, Ltd. and Investments Financial, Inc. Funeral Services for Robert will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist- Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet, on Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at 7 p.m. Enshrinement will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, 11 a.m. at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted.
