The season-opener at the Lyric Opera gives opera aficionados two things they love: world-class opera and a chance to dress up.
The double bill of “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci” heralded the arrival of the Lyric’s 48th season Saturday night. And flashing camera’s heralded the arrival of Chicago’s biggest opera buffs, who paid up to $400 a seat to attend the opening-night gala, at Madison Street and Wacker Drive.
Lyric’s season continues through March 22.
