Shouldn’t an event with “swing” in the title actually offer swing dancing?
The annual Casino Swing charity ball, hosted by The 20/30 Club of Chicago in Union Station recently, served up “Vegas-style” blackjack, but big band bop wasn’t in the cards. No toe-tapping tempests from when dancing was a contact sport. No slow songs, just midtempo sprinklings of Bodeans covers. No Glenn Miller, or even Big Bad Voodoo Daddy–just a sing-along rendition of John Mellencamp’s “Jack and Diane.”
Still, by evening’s end, event program covers were torn off so phone numbers could be exchanged. All for a good cause, of course.
