Story line: Nate Clements tied a team record with three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, and the Bills (4-3) surpassed last year’s victory total by beating the Dolphins (5-2) in Miami. Dolphins backup quarterback Ray Lucas threw four interceptions and had a hand in two lost fumbles. He was making his first NFL start since 1999 as the replacement for Jay Fiedler, who is out with a broken right thumb.
Star: Bills running back Travis Henry outgained Miami’s Ricky Williams with 132 yards in 22 attempts. Williams carried 25 times for 97 yards.
Extra point: The Bills committed no turnovers and didn’t need a big day from Drew Bledsoe. He went 15-for-31 for 182 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown pass to Eric Moulds.
Quote: “The way I played today was probably the worst a quarterback has ever played in the history of the NFL. . . . I embarrassed myself. … I probably won’t sleep for the next three days.”–Lucas.
