Having rendered a public service to travelers and nervous first-daters with the Fingertip Toothbrush, the folks at Dental Dots may be pushing their luck, and ours, with a version for pets. The advertising for Doggie Dots and Kitty Dots ($1.99 for a package of 6 at www.dentaldots.com) assures us that pets “accept finger brushing easier than a standard toothbrush,” which is a little like saying that dogs like a visit to the vet better than six weeks of obedience school. While one good-natured dog in our limited testing–just forget about cats–willingly accepted the application of a textured dental pad to her canines, the general idea of sticking fingers in the mouth of, say, a cranky Rottweiler and vigorously rubbing in a chicken-flavored substance sounds like some kind of daredevil event in an extreme dog show. Maybe the producers who dream up stunts for “Fear Factor” should look into this.
