John J. Gill, 78, of St. Petersburg Beach, FL, formerly of Palos Heights, died Oct. 19, loving husband of Billie Ruth; father and business partner of John W. Gill, and Linda Gill; loving brother of Joy Lemm; grandfather of Jessica, Zachary and Nathaniel; great-grandfather of Samuel. Mr Gill was born in Chicago, where he was a tool & die maker and founder of Gill Tool & Machine in Alsip and Gull Tool & Machine in St. Petersburg. He served as an aviator in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. In Palos Heights he was a school board member and volunteer fireman/engineer. In Florida he was a member of Gulf Beaches Historical Museum, Vina del Mar Island Assoc., Pin-Mar Antique Car Club and the Model A Restorers Club. Memorial service at Grace Bible Church in St. Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society.
