Andreas Johansson had two goals and an assist as the Nashville Predators won their first game of the season by beating the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings 3-1 Saturday night.
Johansson scored his first goal at 3:39 of the first period.
The Red Wings answered when Nicklas Lidstrom scored at 5:22.
But just over a minute later, Kimmo Timonen’s slap shot from the blue line was deflected past Curtis Joseph by Adam Hall at 6:16 to give the Predators a 2-1 lead. Johansson was credited with an assist.
Johansson scored again at 10:05 when he poked the rebound of David Legwand’s shot past Joseph.
