Ronald G. Ware, 64, of Arlington Heights, a former controller and group vice president for Magnaflux Corp. in Chicago, died of cancer Tuesday, Nov. 5, in Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of the North Shore in Evanston. Mr. Ware was a man who “always knew what he wanted,” said his wife of 40 years, Arlene. She said that even when he was 19 and saw her for the first time, walking on his street, “he told his mother, `That’s the woman I’m going to marry.'” . He was born in Chicago and raised on its Northwest Side. He began his career at Magnaflux, a company that sells metal testing equipment, working part time in the accounting department briefly before entering the Army in 1961. He returned to Magnaflux in 1964, working full time while earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University in 1970. He remained with the company (then a part of Illinois Tool Works) until 1994, working his way up to controller and group vice president. He became treasurer of Richardson Electronics Ltd., in LaFox, and worked there until his retirement last year. He enjoyed target shooting, crossword puzzles and woodworking and took great pride in his tool collection, his wife said. Other survivors include a daughter, Tracy; his mother, Laverne; and niece Jennifer Hansen. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights.
