This is in response to “Ryder spared jail in shoplifting case; Film star gets probation, fines and counseling” (News, Dec. 7). Winona Ryder’s sentence also includes 60 days of community service.
I find it curious that our court system regards community service as punishment, but I guess it explains why our public servants are paid so well to serve the taxpayers.
