This is regarding Sen. Trent Lott’s (R-Mississippi) comment about how if Strom Thurmond had been elected president, the country “wouldn’t have had all these problems over all these years” (News, Dec. 7). If Lott wants to continue his thoughtlessness, that’s all right by me. I’m sure there are more than a few Democratic senators who could offer him some serious, enlightened, modern and sensitive thoughts.
