President George W. Bush has the right idea about a war against terror, but he has picked the wrong targets.
He should wage war against the terror felt by workers as they watch their corporations and jobs escape to offshore havens, leaving behind their workers.
Bush should wage war against the terror of being unable to find a job in this economy, having unemployment running out.
Or perhaps he could consider a war against the terror felt by the mother of an asthmatic child, worrying about air pollution.
Or what about the terror felt by someone fingered by an anonymous informant, being taken away to some secret location and kept indefinitely.
Instead Bush has embarked on his Middle Eastern adventure. This leads to the worst terror–the terror felt by a mother or sister wondering if her son or brother will be among those killed overseas.
