Since I have been in the 5th grade, I have received a wonderful music education with resourceful directors and private teachers. They have taught me numerous lessons, not only about music but also about life. I feel that more music education in schools would be an important and positive contribution to the schooling of our youth.
Installing programs such as band, chorus, orchestra, music composition and history will provide students with a well-rounded and culturally advanced education. Schools put too much emphasis on English, math, history, science and foreign language. Although these classes are necessary to succeed in the future, I feel that music is also essential.
Our schools need to educate our children, not just in the academic subjects but also in the performing arts.
