The annual off-season march to doctors’ offices is under way for the Bears.

Linebacker Rosevelt Colvin, the first Bear since Richard Dent to lead the team in sacks in consecutive seasons, underwent minor surgery this week to correct a problem and strengthen his left shoulder.

“It was like this his senior year in college [at Purdue],” agent Kenard McGuire said. “It’s nothing major, something he’s played with for four seasons. We just thought this was the appropriate time to address it.”

Quarterback Jim Miller also is expected to undergo exploratory surgery on his throwing arm next week. Safety Larry Whigham, like Colvin an unrestricted free agent, said he will have “routine” knee surgery.
