Never mind the sputtering economy, there’s a stampede for cashmere. But it’s not just sweaters anymore. Cashmere has invaded everything from boxer shorts to sweat suits to soap and shampoo.
The cashmere track jacket ($338) is the top seller at Apartment Number 9, a men’s boutique at 1804 N. Damen Ave. Women bought the cashmere boxer shorts ($238) as gifts and for themselves.
Juicy Couture now offers its sweat suits (a wardrobe staple of Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow) in cashmere. At $207 for each piece or $414 for the set, they were reordered after two months at Smack, 1650 W. Division St.
The brand’s cashmere sales have increased 700 percent from last year.
