Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In the past, I have not supported pay for play for college athletes. But after reading two articles in the Tribune last week, I have come to see the error of my ways.

College athletes should be paid to play, as one Ohio State player suggested, $2,000 to $3,000 per month, with a few simple rules attached:

First, their tuition and room and board should come out of this money. Second, they should be required to have serious majors that will guarantee their post-athletic success. Last, they should be subject to the exact same admission requirements as the rest of us.

If this money isn’t enough to survive on, there are always student loans.
