Two men who hope to unseat Cicero Town President Ramiro Gonzalez in the Republican primary in February will learn Tuesday whether their names will remain on the ballot.
Lewis Baird and Bob Alejandro were challenged by Louis Guido, a volunteer for the Cicero Regular Republic Organization, who supports Gonzalez.
At a hearing last week, Guido’s lawyer, Michael Donahue, contended that the men’s nominating documents were invalid because Baird failed to make clear what office he was running for and Alejandro used “Bob” instead of his legal name.
“We argue that anyone reviewing these documents is subject to a great deal of voter uncertainty and confusion,” Donahue said. “Someone who is not astute at this could misconstrue that Mr. Baird could be running for president of the United States or president of the Cook County Board.”
