Your Jan. 3 editorial “A hangover from holidays” gave me a headache. Americans enjoy fewer holidays than any European citizen. Now come the Columbus bashers who join the ranks of charlatan, revisionist historians in the organized attempt to obliterate the celebration of the greatest feat of exploration in recorded history.
The legacy of Christopher Columbus and the Columbus Day Parade celebration are deeply woven into the rich fabric of Chicago.
If they pass the proposal to eliminate the requirement that schools observe five state holidays (including Columbus Day), my grandson, Pasquale Gianni, will have a bad cold every Columbus Day.
