Former Gov. George Ryan’s decisions regarding some pardons and allowing Death Row inmates commutations to life in prison showed conscience and courage on Ryan’s part.
It also showed again that an imperfect person can act bravely and decently during difficult circumstances.
Regardless of Ryan’s own legacy, whether it is good or bad, the people of Illinois can be proud of his recent decisions.
