Little Current, 32, the oldest living winner of a Triple Crown race, was euthanized Sunday in Monroe, Wash., after sustaining abdominal problems. The regally bred horse won the 1974 Preakness and Belmont, both by seven lengths. His death leaves Spectacular Bid, 27, the winner of the 1979 Kentucky Derby and Preakness, as the oldest living winner of a Triple Crown race.

– Jockeys in Britain will face random breathalyzer tests when the thoroughbred racing season begins this spring. The Jockey Club, which governs horse racing in Britain, confirmed the move Monday, a day after five-time champion jockey Kieren Fallon said he was being treated for alcohol abuse at an Irish clinic. A Jockey Club spokesman said its move is unrelated to Fallon.
