Clifford Crawford scored 21 points and Julius Hodge added 18 as North Carolina State snapped a 13-game losing streak to No. 3 Duke with an 80-71 victory Wednesday night.

The visiting Blue Devils (12-2, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) were the nation’s top-ranked team a week ago but lost their second straight conference game for the first time since 1997. Duke lost to No. 12 Maryland by 15 points on Saturday.

Wolfpack coach Herb Sendek was 1-15 against Duke in his career–his only win coming in the 1997 ACC tournament. But the Wolfpack (10-4, 3-1) pulled off the upset with some clutch outside shooting and Crawford’s overall play.

Crawford was 4-of-5 from three-point range, and his defense in the second half on J.J. Redick, who had 20 in the first half but only four after the break, was key.

No. 6 Jayhawks fall

Stephane Pelle scored 27 points, including the short jumper with 25 seconds left that gave Colorado a 60-59 upset of No. 6 Kansas, snapping the Buffaloes’ 27-game losing streak to the visiting Jayhawks.

Colorado (12-5, 2-2 Big 12) hadn’t beaten Kansas (13-4, 3-1) since 1991.

Kansas shot 33 percent in having its 10-game winning streak ended. Nick Collison had 16 points for the Jayhawks.

Beat the clock

Big 12 officials are reviewing a tape of Texas Tech’s 69-64 overtime loss at No. 7 Oklahoma to try to determine whether there was a glitch in the game clock during the final seconds of regulation.

The outcome of the game cannot be reversed.

Pilot error blamed

Pilot error probably caused the Jan. 27, 2001, crash of a twin-engine airplane that killed 10 people associated with the Oklahoma State basketball program, according to a report by the National Transportation Safety Board.
