Eugene Radecki, 74, a Korean War Army veteran and a retired purchasing manager for Ritter Technology Co. in Alsip, died of an unknown cause Thursday, Jan. 16, in Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights. Mr. Radecki, of Orland Park, was described by family members as a quiet but warm man who was the ultimate cheerleader for his children and grandchildren. He brought smiles to family members with his wit and understated humor. “It was all about his kids and grandkids; that’s who he was,” said his nephew, Steven Kent. “He was a very quiet guy, unassuming and humble.” A native of the city’s Back of the Yards neighborhood, Mr. Radecki graduated from Harrison High School in Chicago in 1946. He was a corporal in the Army from 1952 to 1954, serving as a radio man during the Korean War. He worked for 25 years as a warehouse stock manager for Spiegel Co. before moving to a new job at Ritter. He worked for the Alsip company for 22 years and retired more than a decade ago. He was also a member of American Legion Post 419. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, William; three daughters, Laura Noble, Patti Benak and Jennifer Morsovillo; and seven grandchildren. Services have been held.
