Herbert H. Mendelson, age 79, former Chairman of the Board of Jack X. Wilson, Inc., died at the Miami Heart Institute on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, following a courageous battle with vasculitis. He was born May 27, 1923, in Chicago, IL, to the late Emanuel and Edith Glass Mendelson. He attended Northwestern and Brown Universities and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. A pioneer in the recycling of paper, Herbert and his late wife Jacquiline Woolf Mendelson resided in Chicago, Philadelphia, New York City and most recently in Aventura, FL, where he was an active member of SCORE-Service Corp. of Retired Executives. Herbert is survived by his sons, Emanuel Scott and Anthony Woolf Mendelson and his daughter Nancy Mendelson and her husband Thomas Scott; his grandson Benjamin Michael Mendelson; and his brother Donald Charles Mendelson. Funeral services for Herbert H. Mendelson will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, Jan. 24, at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, 630 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY 10024.
