Simeon Rice had just finished watching film of the Oakland Raiders when a crew from NFL Films arrived at his hotel room wanting to turn the projector on him.

Rice will be featured in a pre-game segment before Super Bowl XXXVII Sunday on ABC-TV.

“I’m trying to give them a little bit of me, a little taste of who Simeon Rice is off the field,” said Rice, who with his teammates finally got on the practice field for 2 1/2 hours, a closed workout that wound up being watched by between 50-75 fans. Practice was all right, definitely good to get out there and do what we’re here for.”

But he was so tired afterward, he decided to skip an engagement to compete in a PlayStation2 tournament. “I’m going to pick up my activities tomorrow after practice,” said Rice.

The Rice clan–party of 20–will be joining the Bucs defensive tackle Friday. He’s already hooked up with his brother, Diallo, who lives in San Diego and works in real estate. `We’re really tight. Blood is thicker than water, you know?” said Rice.

Rice already has purchased 20 tickets, including 18 for friends and family from Chicago. Among those attending the game will be Mt. Carmel High School coach Frank Lenti who is “an instrumental part of my life.”
