Michael Tackett got it exactly right that affirmative influence is far more powerful than affirmative action. Affirmative action or not, people with W’s grades who don’t have rich, influential daddies never get into Yale, no matter how female, black, Latino or disadvantaged they are. Affirmative action only helps you out a little, if you prove you’ve worked hard and deserve the help.
