At the Cubs Convention, Tribune Co. hierarchy blamed the politicians who won’t allow the expansion of Wrigley Field for the Cubs’ losing ways. They blamed the fact that the Cubs are only allowed to play 18 night games per season, they blamed the rooftop owners and finally blamed the losing record on Wrigley Field.
It seems to me the reason the Cubs are losing is that Tribune Co. allowed Greg Maddux to walk out of town, that when Jim Edmonds was available the Cubs signed Damon Buford, that the Cubs haven’t had a third baseman since Ron Santo and they let Robin Ventura leave town . . . the list goes on.
In short, the reason the Cubs have a losing record is Tribune Co.
