I am surprised at the story about so-called “perks” for unpaid trustees of the University of Illinois. I consider the trustees to serve the same function as the board of directors of corporations. In many cases they have even more control over our country’s future because they are in control of our children’s future. To deny these people the necessary flights, good food, etc. is sloppy thinking. Would you expect them to take the bus, eat at McDonald’s and stay at Motel 6?
