Cardinal Francis George stated that “no direct donations to either the parish or the archdiocese will be used to fund” $16.8 million in settlements resulting from priest sexual abuse (Page 1, Jan. 17). He further states that the funds will come from the sale of property and insurance proceeds. Where did the money come from for the purchase of this undeveloped property and insurance?
