Beloved wife of the late Robert Wade Bates; devoted mother of Nancy Rose Jacobs and the late Robert Wade Bates Jr.; proud grandmother of Laura (Mike) Duet, Robert Wade (Melanie) Bates III, Bonnie Smith, Todd W. Jacobs and William Robert Bates; great-grandmother of Ashley and Joseph Smith and Alex and Robert Wade Bates IV. Mrs. Bates was a founding member of Ivanhoe Community Methodist Church, Girl Scout/Cub Scout leader of the Riverdale Chapter, Red Cross Volunteer, Ingalls Memorial Hospital Volunteer and a precinct captain.
