World chess champion Garry Kasparov–who lost six years ago to computer stud Deep Blue–won the first of six games in New York against his latest computer challenger. Kasparov forced Deep Junior into a position from which it could not win Sunday, compelling the human moving its pieces to resign four hours into the game.
