If the government wants to dramatically lower the number of abortions in this country, limiting them to only the extreme cases, such as rape and high maternal risk, then it should institute meaningful sex education in schools, offer low-cost health insurance to the working poor, require health insurers to cover contraceptives and do more than give lip service to the sanctity of motherhood by taking a lesson from Sweden, which provides up to 96 weeks of maternity leave.
I’m pro-choice in that, if women had better choices, I don’t think they would choose abortion.
