I am thoroughly disgusted by Joseph Daudish’s Jan. 17 letter to the editor on the 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by teenage boys. In no way does drinking alcohol invite anyone to violate another person’s body. Daudish compares this situation to driving under the influence and getting into a car accident. In reality, however, the fact that she allegedly chose to drink alcohol at a party (which many high school students do) is in no way even close to the choice an intoxicated person makes when getting behind the wheel.
Driving drunk is clearly a way of putting oneself in danger.
Drinking in the company of classmates is not.
If we all thought like Daudish, it would give criminals an excuse to rape girls at the sight of alcohol consumption.
As the allegations now stand, I see her as a completely innocent victim.
