We knew that reading the Harry Potter books was popular, but we underestimated how popular it is to write them.
Last week, Tempo announced a contest to finish (in 300 words or less) one brief excerpt released from the upcoming “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” The plan was to announce the winners in today’s Tempo.
By close of business Friday, there were approximately 300 entries. No sweat. On Monday, the contest deadline, at least 700 more arrived, half via e-mail, the other half regular mail.
Like the Dursleys in “Chamber of Secrets,” when the blizzard of letters finally reaches Harry, our judges were simply overwhelmed.
Therefore, to be sure we have time to carefully read all the entries, we will postpone publishing the winners until the Feb. 4 Tempo. See you then.
