James P. Dalton, age 58, retired C.P.D., born May 9, 1944 to Alice and Jerry Dalton. Died January 28, 2003 after withstanding a heart transplant in 1992, kidney transplant (donated by son, Dennis) in Aug. 2002 and his courageous battle with cancer. Fondly referred to as “Miracle Man” by all who knew and loved him. Beloved husband of 36 years and best friend to Maureen A., nee White, Dalton; devoted father of Tracey (James) Dalton Lepore of New Hartford, CT, Timothy Patrick (Lisa) Dalton of Naperville, IL and Dennis Gerald Dalton of Aurora, IL; cherished grandfather of Michael James Bettinardi, Courtney Ann Lepore, James Dalton Lepore, Margaret Mae Dalton; fond brother of Joan (Hugh) McCartan, John F. (Janice) Dalton, DDS., Jerry (Bernadette) Dalton and the late Dolores (the late Bud) Mallo; dear son-in-law of Kathryn M. and the late James E. White; kind brother-in-law of James M. (Donna) White, Sharon (Vincent) Ryan, James E. White and the late Patrick J. White; fond uncle, great-uncle of many nieces and nephews and many special friends. Visitation Thursday and Friday, 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday, 10:15 a.m. from the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st St., Orland Park to St. Francis of Assisi Church. Mass 11 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Former bodyguard to Mayor Richard J. Daley and Jim ended his career as security specialist for the City of Chicago.
