Walter Beglin, 69, loving husband, father and proud grandfather, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital after a long illness on Jan. 28, 2003. He was born in Blantyre, Scotland on April 28, 1933. He served in the Korean Conflict. He proudly became a U.S. citizen in Oct. of 1988. A 40 year employee of Gonnella Baking Co. and a business agent for Teamsters Local #734 for five years, he retired in 1999. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dorothy; two loving daughters, Karen Haney and Laura Belling; a loving son, Daniel; two sons-in-law and friends, Jerry Haney and Tim Belling; a loving daughter-in-law, Tish Beglin; and eight wonderful grandchildren, Melissa and Rachael Haney, Natalie, Daniel and Abigail Belling, Michele, Brian and Patrick Beglin. He was a die-hard, lifelong Cubs fan and a strong supporter of all the sports his grandchildren participated in. We will always miss him. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Loyola Hospice, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood, IL 60153 are appreciated. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 at St. Catherine Church, 107th and Kedvale, Oak Lawn, at 10 a.m.
