“The Guru” brings the styles of the globe’s largest movie industries–Hollywood and Bombay’s Bollywood–together in one offbeat comedy. After a short-lived career as a waiter, Ramu (newcomer Jimi Mistry) throws himself into acting auditions, only to be cast (unbeknownst to him) in a porn flick. He meets skin starlet Sharonna (Heather Graham), a sexpert and carnal philosopher. Through a series of mishaps, Sharonna becomes Ramu’s mentor when he’s mistaken for a sexually enlightened guru by unstable follower/girlfriend Lexi (Marisa Tomei). Soon, he has an agent, a sports car and appearances on Broadway as “The Guru of Sex.” R.
