Block Cinema is presenting a series called “Dark Dreams: Film Noir and Abstract Expressionism” in conjunction with its “Stamp of Impulse” exhibit. In “The Woman in the Window” (1944), director Fritz Lang brings the German Expressionist style to a psychological thriller about a professor (Edward G. Robinson) who falls for a beautiful woman and gets caught up in a murder and blackmail. The film will be introduced by University of Chicago professor Tom Gunning, author of “The Films of Fritz Lang.”
