After reading other reader’s comments regarding “salt-crazy” Chicago, I’m glad to see that it’s not just me who feels this way. I travel throughout the United States regularly, and I have never seen any city dump so much harmful salt on every surface as I see in the Chicago metropolitan area.

While our road crews are outstanding at removing snow and ice quickly, the salt machine seems to have no off switch. The lasting damage and added expense of constant salting taxes many resources here.

The area needs to be on a sodium-restricted diet.
