This is regarding the Jan. 24 editorial “Farewell to an uncommon man.” America has recently lost two outstanding individuals–one, a caricaturist; the other, a cartoonist–Al Hirschfeld and Bill Mauldin.

It is sometimes said that a picture is worth a thousand words.

By that standard, the artistry of these two was well worth more than a thousand words. These two talented and gifted artists will be missed. These uncommon men could relate to common men.
