Jon Hilkevitch’s “Salt peppers streets, lives–be thankful” (Page 1, Jan. 29) is distressing to me and to anyone who cares about the environment.
It tries to put a smiley face on dumping 79,000 tons of salt. But there’s no way we can wash that much salt into the rivers and the lake without badly upsetting our ecosystem.
