The first toy my son ever begged for at age 2 was a replica of the space shuttle. Now at age 4, his father and I took him aside on Feb. 1 to tell him there had been a bad accident. He asked that we didn’t talk about it since it made him sad.
Two days later, he came to join me and watch the news. Then during a story that questioned whether manned missions should continue, I noticed he started to cry.
“Henry, what’s wrong?”
“They want to stop before I get my turn.”
