Four companies, including the firm that has built the nation’s only high-speed rail line, have entered bids to build the first leg of Florida’s bullet train network, connecting Orlando and Tampa. Prices ranged from $404 million to $2.7 billion, depending on the route. Fluor-Bombardier, Global Rail Consortium, Georgia Monorail Consortium and Et3.com have submitted bids to the Florida High Speed Rail Authority. Fluor-Bombardier has built Amtrak’s Acela high-speed rail line in the Northeast.
