Many in the pro-war group try to paint those who are against war with Iraq as anti-American and pro-Saddam Hussein.
That is ridiculous.
There are few, if any, who would disagree that Hussein is an oppressive dictator.
The issue should be less “Is he a bad man?” and more “Is he a credible threat to the U.S.?”
The answer to that question is no.
There is no evidence that he is a threat to the U.S., and the focus on war with Iraq is distracting from the efforts against those who truly are a threat to the U.S. and have already killed thousands of our citizens.
The safety of our citizens rests with finding and neutralizing terrorist groups who would act against us. I can see no logic that shows this as unpatriotic.
