EARTHA?
Nominated for female R&B, alongside million-CD sellers Ashanti, winner Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah and Jill Scott, even though you’ve never heard of her. No surprise there, her “Sidebars” CD sold only 52 copies, according to Soundscan.
REMY SHAND?
Nominated for R&B album, R&B song, male R&B performance and traditional R&B performance. The Canadian soul singer got some critical praise for his debut album, “The Way I Feel,” but there were no big hits, no big videos, no big tours. No wins, either.
BOWLING FOR SOUP?
Nominated for pop performance by duo or group with vocal along with Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, winner No Doubt and ‘N Sync. Guess they needed an underdog to round out the category, and Bowling for Soup–who?–definitely passes.
