If you ride a Pace bus, you soon will be able to use a computer, cell phone or wireless handheld to pinpoint the location of your transportation.
To aid commuters who might have considered launching a search party for their elusive bus, Pace officials Thursday unveiled “smart buses” that can be tracked roughly every 70 seconds.
The $14.7 million Intelligent Bus System allows for tracking buses on all 246 Pace routes in the area.
Riders now will be able to check Pace’s Internet site (www.pacebus.com) with a Web-enabled cell phone, wireless PDA or computer. Real-time data will show whether buses are running ahead of schedule or stuck in traffic.
