– The Ford Five Hundred sedan and Free-style crossover to be built in Chicago for the ’05 model year will both be offered in front-wheel- or all-wheel-drive. “I expect a third to a half of all Five Hundreds will be ordered with AWD and 50 percent or more Freestyles with AWD,” says Steve Lyons, Ford division president.
– The new split grille design on the restyled 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer eventually will appear on all Mitsubishi models.
– Volkswagen will offer an all-wheel-drive, 6-cylinder GTI for 2005, says Frank Maguire, vice president of sales and marketing. The GTI, which marks its 20th year in the U.S. this year, has been front-wheel-drive.
